We saw a large cockroach run across the bed as we were going to sleep. Looking around afterward, we found about six more in the room and bathroom. The owner refused to refund us. There are photos of three of the roughly six different cockroaches. If they fix this, it could be a really good airbnb, but right now I think it’s unsafe and a biohazard, and shouldn’t be operating.

It’s a small, outdated place tucked in a quiet little alley, away from tourists and very close to Ly Tu Trong. The room is spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and a clean bathroom. The towels are worn. That seems normal for Vietnamese hotels, though Westerners might expect fluffier ones, something the hotel could consider. The gate closes by 10pm. You can ask for the combination, or pull it open, since the lock wire was long enough for me to slip in. It seems mainly there to protect motorbikes. There’s plenty of local food nearby to explore, though expectations differ from person to person. Within the price, it’s excellent value for a budget stay. I’d come back if I’m in the area. The Expedia description and photos could use a little polishing. There’s a vegan restaurant downtown upstairs, but I didn’t try it or eat the free breakfast there.
