Eco Lux Riverside Hotel & Spa

This was an upsetting, uncomfortable stay, and I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. Staff entered our room several times without permission, once while we were out and another time while we were inside and undressed. They used a master key without knocking or announcing themselves, a serious violation of our privacy. We were part of a Richmond tour group of 34 people from Taiwan, and nearly everyone had room problems. The building smelled strongly of damp and mold as soon as we arrived, and the air felt wet. We asked the owner to turn on the AC to reduce the moisture. He said, 'Oh!' but didn't do it. Our room had dirty sheets and floors, a moldy smell, a poorly maintained bathroom with a dirty tub and shower curtain, and an AC unit that leaked. Cleanliness was well below an acceptable standard. Noise was another problem: roosters at neighboring properties woke us at 4:50 AM, then loud motorbikes started around 5:30 AM. The building may look nice at first, but it's poorly maintained, smells of mold, and didn't feel safe or private. Management seemed little concerned about the problems.

A lovely, quiet place to relax. The rooms are beautiful, breakfast is lovely, and the pool is amazing!! The staff were 10/10. Thank you to Lily, My, Trung, and Fiona. I hope things go well for all of you in the future. Till next time.

The room was the real shock. The wooden floor was dirty enough that my feet looked black after walking on it for barely a minute, and boards were popping up underfoot, making it feel like an accident waiting to happen. Dust covered the furniture, the room itself was grimy, and the kettle base had ugly brown discoloration. There were also signs of water getting in near the window. I can't believe the tour operator brought me here and let me stay in that room after checking in late at night. The outside looks grand and inviting, but that impression disappears inside. The high rating and attractive photos are misleading. I don't understand how this place can have four stars, especially compared with what that rating means for familiar hotel brands elsewhere. I'd sooner sleep in army barracks. Never again.

The rooms were clean and the staff pleasant. Despite “Riverside” in the name, the hotel isn't by the river and you can't see it. There was only strawberry-flavoured tea, no milk or fridge, and the cooler didn't even chill water.
