Hoi An Grace River Villa

I loved the river-facing studio apartment, especially the view, natural light, and privacy. It was excellent value, and the quiet residential setting is still only a short walk from the Old Quarter. The kitchen has just a fridge and kettle, though you can ask for utensils and plates. I can’t see much cooking happening there, but it works for simple things like cutting up fruit. The room was cleaned every day without us needing to ask. The complimentary à la carte breakfast had plenty of choices, and same-day laundry was available. They can also arrange bikes, scooters, tours, and transport. Being able to pay for everything at checkout by credit card, with the usual fee, was very convenient for us.

We liked the quiet evenings and the river view, and the centre was under a 10-minute walk away. The folder also included some information about Hoi A’s history. The receptionist, perhaps the owner, kindly added yogurt and fruit alongside our omelette, which we appreciated. Breakfast has to be ordered the day before. Still, the room didn’t meet our expectations despite the positive booking.com reviews. There was nowhere to put clothes or personal things, so we used the second bed for clothes and facial products. The room was dim and hard to read in, and the towels were very old. We didn’t raise these points because there wasn’t anything they could do to change them, but together the small problems made the stay somewhat negative.

The staff were great, and breakfast was the best I’ve had in two weeks in Vietnam. Nights were quiet, and it’s a 10-minute walk to the old town. 🫶🏻

The people working here were exceptionally friendly and helpful. One day I wasn’t feeling well, and they even made me lunch. Cho, Sue and Han were awesome, and I hope to stay again someday. My room was a small suite with a living space, kitchen, balcony, and a bedroom area with a large flat-screen TV and wifi. The bathroom had a separate shower, which isn’t something every place in Vietnam offers, and the AC worked well. Most rooms look toward the river or the pool out front. A nice breakfast was included, usually banana pancakes or an omelette, toast, coffee, orange juice, and fruit. I’m a coffee addict, so I was glad there’s a very nice cafe about 200 feet down the river road. Silk River Villa is on an island just south of Old Town, within walking distance but far enough away for a peaceful, quiet setting.
