Lotus Mart is tiny, but has enough variety for a snack craving. My hotel was nearby, and I needed something sweet, so I picked up Peanut M&Ms, a tin of Chocolate Covered Almonds, and an Ice Cream Bar. They charged me too much at first, but caught the mistake and gave me the right change. I appreciated their honesty.
I'm actually reviewing Lotus Mart on the ground floor of Lotus Residences. It's a great local market with Vietnamese and Western food, a fantastic range of wine and cold beers, Western beef, and even tortillas.
The staff didn't speak much English, but they were lovely and eager to help. A friend and I stayed about a week and a half in this modern serviced apartment, which was a good deal at US$50 a night. It had a comfortable bed and air conditioning in both the bedroom and living area. The kitchen was full, though pretty lean on kitchenware. My only complaint was the construction noise across the street.
The staff were friendly, and I found the drinks and snack selection much better suited to Western visitors than what local Vietnamese chains usually offer.
Lotus Mart has a decent range of items aimed at Western tastes. I came by at 7 a.m. and it wasn’t open yet, so it opens at 8.
