Mad Monkey Hoi An

There was always plenty happening, which is what I expected from a mad monkey, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room was very clean, and having towels supplied was a nice change from using my microfibre one for a couple of days. It’s a little away from the centre, but getting a grab was easy, usually within seconds.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel in Vietnam(hoi a mad monkey), and Chi deserves a special mention for the great service. She greeted me with a warm smile, made me feel welcome, and got me checked in quickly. She also took time to answer all my questions professionally. She’s really beautiful as well :)

Dear Sir/Madam, I’m formally escalating a serious complaint about my recent stay at Mad Monkey Hostel in Hoi An. I expected a safe, hygienic, well-run place, but my experience fell far below the basic standards I associate with an internationally recognized hostel brand. The most serious issue was bed bugs. I found them in my bed during the night and couldn’t sleep. I reported it straight away. The only immediate response was a sheet change and a promise to move me the next day. When I asked in the morning, reception said the hostel was fully booked and could not offer another bed. The option given was to check out and receive a refund for the second night. This raises serious concerns about hygiene and the ability to provide a clean, safe place to sleep. There was also a security problem with my assigned bed locker. Its lock was broken when I checked in, and I reported it to reception. They said they’d fix it as soon as possible, but it was still broken later that day. That evening I was told nothing could be done and that I could leave valuables at reception. I didn’t consider that a secure or appropriate solution, so I had to give my valuables to a friend staying at the hostel. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told I’d have to wait until she arrived in the evening. That added to the inconvenience and left me without timely support. I’ve attached photos of the issues. Given the hygiene problem and lack of prompt resolution, I ask senior management to review this and provide an appropriate resolution. I trust the organization takes guest safety and its reputation seriously and will address this promptly and responsibly. If it isn’t handled satisfactorily, I’ll have to raise it through formal review platforms and relevant consumer channels so other travelers can know about my experience. Brett and Aleks welcomed me when I arrived and kept making me feel at home. There were fun activities every day and night, so as a solo traveler I met lots of cool people. I loved the pool and balcony, and the place felt more like a hotel than a hostel. Thanks for a great stay!
