Riverside Hamlet Homestay & Villas

We needed a family-friendly place to stay, and this suited us well. Kiet and his family were lovely hosts in a beautiful spot, only a short ride from Hoi An old town. The beds were good quality and gave us a restful night's sleep.

We borrowed a bicycle and rode around the countryside, seeing planting, harvesting, and everyday rural life. We stopped at local shops for tasty things to eat. Hoi An's culture and busy markets are close by, about 10 minutes by bike or a five-minute Grab ride. Riverside is a lovely mix of local life and a family who welcome you into their home and make you feel cared for. They gave us a welcome meal, shared plenty of information, and told us about the food, customs, and language. We left with special memories of their kindness. Huge thanks!

The location was just what I wanted: a short scooter ride from the old town, with a little nature and some small family farms nearby. I wanted somewhere to rest away from the old town's over-tourism. You get a family retreat that's still close enough to things to do, and it feels like Vietnam rather than a version shaped for tourists. I planned a shorter visit but stayed around 17 days, about 10 longer than intended. By the time I left, I felt more like Kiet's friend than a guest. I live in Da Nang, so I can visit him and his family easily. Kiet gave me a warm welcome and made it clear he wanted me to enjoy Hoi An. He told me what I needed to know and had great suggestions. The breakfast was the best I'd had in three months of hotels and guesthouses. It was so filling I sometimes saved a little for later. Kiet's sister and niece made it fresh each morning and cleaned my room when needed. They're both lovely, cheerful people, and I enjoyed seeing them every day. When my girlfriend visited, they made her breakfast without trying to charge extra. They were simply welcoming. Twice during my stay, Kiet's mother made a big Vietnamese dinner, something she spends all day preparing. Kiet sat with us guests and we talked for hours. That's what a homestay means to me.

The countryside is right there, but town is only a short cycle or Grab ride away. The family were generous and helpful, gave us lots of advice, and invited us to eat with them. They waved us off like good friends. For a comfortable stay with really friendly hosts, this was honestly the best.
