Tourane Boutique Hotel

The beach was gorgeous, about half a mile away, and there were a few interesting things nearby. Most of the staff were nice, and the hotel looked pretty with updated rooms. The rooms were tiny and really cold, though. There was no heater, just one flimsy blanket, and they wouldn't give me another even after I asked twice. I'm 71 and was recovering from flu, so I was freezing and stayed awake for most of my five nights. I tried catching short naps when the sun warmed the room. The western breakfast was two fried eggs with three pieces of awful white bread. No butter or jam, and no fruit either. Even a small banana and some jam would have been nice.

The rooms are tiny, and noise carries through them as if a curtain were separating the spaces. We could hear the people next door open their door, shower, snore softly, breathe, and every word from their TV or phone videos. They arrived at 2am, were loud at first, then talked until around 4 and left the TV on. We knocked, and they lowered their voices to a normal level, so it wasn't really their fault. The hotel just has no soundproofing. Street noise came through too, every car horn, even from our room on the ninth floor. At 3am we asked the front desk to move us somewhere with no one in the rooms on either side. The staff member laughed and said no. They didn't have earplugs either. We left the next day without sleeping, and got no refund for that night. We're not especially light sleepers, but this was next level. Worst hotel stay I've ever had.

We never got moved, even though we asked reception every day and were told each time, “tomorrow.” Our booked room had an adjoining door to the next one, something the booking.com listing hadn't mentioned, and we could hear everything through it, including other guests using the loo and watching videos on their phones. The room itself was nice and the location very good, which made it a shame. Our towels were dirty when we arrived, and I heard another guest complain about the same thing.

The laundry staff damaged and stained my clothes, then used racial slurs, yelled aggressively in my face, and put their hands on me during the confrontation. Hotel management did nothing to address what happened or protect me. There was no accountability or resolution, and no effort to correct the staff's behavior. Staff also entered my room without permission, moved my belongings, and rummaged through them. They said they “needed the room for another guest,” though no one had contacted or notified me or asked first. It was a serious invasion of privacy and left me feeling unsafe. The first replacement room was dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke. After I complained again, I was moved to a clean room. The whole process was exhausting and handled without professionalism or care. This stay failed on service, safety, cleanliness, and basic respect. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. No one should have to go through this.
