The room smelled of mold, stale musk, and cigarettes, and the rest of the building had the same smell. The walls were grubby, and the pool looked disgusting, with green stuff at the bottom. We took photos and video as proof. The lobby looked welcoming, but the rest of the hotel didn’t meet that standard. It needs renovations or some other major work before it can call itself five star. We checked in and left pretty quickly. This isn’t a five-star hotel, nowhere near it. I’d call it three stars at best. I’ve stayed nearby at the Yacht hotel by Dc, which really was five star, with the quality you’d expect from an executive suite. They aren’t comparable, like an old Honda Civic next to a Ferrari. The reviews we read didn’t match what we experienced, maybe they were bots, who knows. A four-star boutique hotel a few hundred meters down the same street was so much cleaner, fresher-smelling, and had beautiful, friendly staff. It felt closer to five star than the crappy ROYAL HALONG HOTEL with its fake star rating. We asked Agoda for a refund for the two nights we booked, but they offered less than half of what we paid. What a joke. We’ve spent thousands traveling with Agoda over the years, and this is how they treat customers when there’s a problem. After years of traveling around the world, this was the first issue like this we’d had. I’ll post this on social media to warn others. Very disappointing, perhaps that’s why it was empty. Save your money, time, and nostrils, and don’t come here if you want to avoid disappointment.

The staff were friendly, kind, and helpful, especially Mr. HƯNG NGUYÊN. He did a lot for us, and it felt like he was helping from the heart. He made sure we had the best holiday in Halong. Thank you so much, Halong Royal hotel, for a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and smelled nice, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was big, and both the hot and cold showers worked well. The food was excellent, especially breakfast. I can’t remember the name of the beef noodle soup, but it tasted so good I honestly ate it three times a day.

The staff were warm and courteous, and the service was great. We stayed at Royal Halong Hotel from 02 - 05 March 2026, in room 603. It was spacious, with a king-size bed, a sofa, and a lovely view of Ha Long Bay.

Ms Emily made a real difference to our stay. She stayed attentive while you were in the casino, then handled the premium room arrangements with real professionalism. The hotel itself is a full-service five-star property in Bãi Cháy, with indoor and outdoor pools, wellness facilities, a casino, and well-equipped rooms, some looking out over the bay or city. It’s close to Bai Chay Beach and SunWorld, and has the facilities businesses need. There’s a lot here for both holidaymakers and MICE guests.
