Ecolodge Cat Ba

Dinner with the staff turned into karaoke with happy water, and the welcome was so warm. It really felt like visiting friends. The eco lodge was easily our best experience in Vietnam. It’s quiet, with no traffic around, and a big highlight was the puppies. The Wi-Fi was really fast too.

We stayed four nights and felt right at home. Flowers, butterflies and birds are all around the place, a lovely change from town on Cat ba. CG, the manager, and the others were friendly and helped us with all our bookings at a good price. They cooked delicious dinners, treated us to homemade hotpot and bun cha, and let us pick fresh fruit from their trees. We made some great memories with them. I’d recommend staying here instead of in town. It’s easy to rent a motorbike or get a taxi to go places. And a big plus for the four cute dogs, especially Eva 💕.

The rooms had everything we needed, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay great. Mike and friends were awesome. Family-style dinners with the chefs and other guests, karaoke nights and lots of recommendations made the trip what it was. Come here if you want an authentic Vietnamese experience.

It’s remote, so the lodge would be perfect if you just want to relax. Plan your meals with them, since there’s nothing outside the lodge. Happy hour ends at 7pm, and the staff were very helpful and spoke English proficiently. I came for just one night as part of an Intrepid small tour. There was no coffee or tea in the room and no kettle, which might have counted against it if I’d stayed longer.
