The room gave me the creeps, though it wasn’t too bad if all you need is a roof for the night. This place really has a motel or one night stand feel. The worst bit was being stuck outside the gate at 1 a.m. It was padlocked, with no other way in. We rang the bell again and again, probably around 100 times. I think it was ringing in the security room, but the guy was fast asleep. He only came out when we started shouting “XIN CHAO.” He walked over without saying anything and just stared at us. We guessed he wanted proof we were staying there and showed him our hotel card. He still hadn’t said a word. Then he unlocked the gate and we went inside. First time anything like that’s happened to me 😀😀😀😀😀🫥🫥🫥🫥🫥

The room was clean, but the bed was pretty hard and it was a bit noisy. The guests weren’t especially welcoming when we arrived. I’ve paid less for better stays elsewhere, so this was just okay for the price. One nearby thing to do is southern train street, which is worth a visit.

There’s a huge construction site behind the hotel right now, and our room near reception wasn’t quiet because the walls are so thin. The beds were incredibly hard, the most uncomfortable I’ve had while travelling in SEA. For this price, we’ve found much more comfortable places. On the plus side, the room was clean and spacious, and the bathroom was nice. There was some confusion on arrival about whether I’d paid, though I had paid through Agoda. The Old Quarter is about a 35-minute walk.

We arrived at 1 a.m. from the Ha Giang Loop, only to be told our booked and paid-for room had been given away. They made us leave and locked the gate in front of us.

Some of the other rooms are used as offices or workplaces, so it gets noisy in the daytime. I came because it was near a hospital where I had work to do, but regretted staying here. It’s not a place for families with kids. They also knocked on my door to politely push me to check out 15 minutes early, at 11:45.
