The front desk guy was really accommodating. He could speak English, so we didn’t need to translate. Good job!

We were glad to leave after the first night in Vietnam. We’d checked in late, then left this hotel early because the tub in room 903 wouldn’t fill with hot water. The very old, small heater couldn’t manage it, and the tub shouldn’t be advertised if it can’t be used. That was the main reason I booked the room. It was also very grimy and poorly maintained, despite the suspiciously high ratings. The daytime receptionist, who I think may have been the owner, spoke English fairly well, unlike the other employees. He offered an insulting 100k VND discount for the tub issue. We paid 900k VND plus a 33,505 VND card fee, 933,505 VND total, for a way overpriced room. We also viewed room 502, a smaller shower-only room for three adults. It was just as grimy and poorly maintained, so we didn’t move. He said it would cost the same 900k VND, which was laughable after seeing it. After we left shortly after noon, we tried A25 Hotel - 88 Nguyễn Khuyến. Best decision ever. We paid 822,171 VND total by credit card/visa, including a delicious all-you-can-eat breakfast for three and tons of other amenities. Please read my review of that hotel. It was such a pleasant stay that we added another night in Hanoi for the same price. We’ll definitely stay at A25 Hotel - 88 Nguyễn Khuyến again when we return to Hanoi. On 3/16/25, I wanted to add context in response to the owners reply, since the details matter for clarity and improvement. After our late check-in, I messaged the hotel on WhatsApp around 1 AM about the non-working bathtub. Since it was late, we went to sleep. They replied around 6 AM while we were still asleep. At 10 AM, I got up and followed the instructions to check that the hot water switch was on and the tub plug was in place. Both were, and I sent screenshots to confirm. The message was marked read, but nobody followed up in the next hour. Around 11 AM, my sister went to reception and was told maintenance would be sent up. After inspecting the tub, the maintenance worker confirmed the problem and handed us his speakerphone, with an English-speaking staff member on the line. I was the main speaker, and all three of us were there and listening. They gave us three choices: a 100k VND discount on the current room, bringing it to 900k VND per night; cancel the remaining nights; or move to a shower-only room at the “same” price, which they clearly said and confirmed when I asked. We went to see that room, found it smaller and still poorly maintained, and declined it. There were wider cleanliness and maintenance issues too, visible in the five-minute video I uploaded. Black mold was on the spray bidet and around the bathtub, and it needs an immediate deep clean. The bathroom looked neglected, with a rotting plant, a discolored pull-down blind, and grime and dust buildup. The entry and bathroom doors had grime and dust as well. One closet door had been nailed shut, leaving only half the closet usable. There were water stains across the bedroom ceiling that need bleaching and repainting, and the blue-painted walls were bubbling and need repair and repainting. That was a stark contrast with the five other hotels and homestays we’d stayed in during our Vietnam trip so far. Each cost less than 900k VND a night, had a bathtub, and was much cleaner and better maintained.

The room was comfortable, and the bed and pillows were too. Everything was clean and smelled nice. There was some noise through the window in the morning, but not at night. I had both AC and a fan, though the temperature was comfortable enough that I used neither. The hotel is close to the Royal City, and the staff were welcoming and honest. It’s starting to show its age, but it’s still well maintained. I wasn’t guilted into leaving a review, as someone mentioned in another review. During my two-night stay, the staff never brought up reviews at all.

I stayed here for 18 days while working in Hanoi. I’m from Panjabi, India, and loved Hanoi Amore Hotel. The room was clean, the staff were all very nice, and the central location made it convenient for my business. They also provide tour information and motor rental. I’ll definitely come back!
