Hanoi Memory Central Hotel & Spa

Giang was especially helpful and made us feel at ease, and everyone on staff was accommodating. My friends and I had a comfortable stay, with good spots around Hanoi nearby. Thanks to the whole team. Highly recommended 💯

We lasted about an hour in the budget room we booked for one night, most of that time spent trying to find another place. There were around six cockroaches as soon as we went in, including one on the bed. Mould was all over the mattress and its protector, around the AC and in the bathroom. With no window, the damp air felt even worse. A curtain separated the bedroom and bathroom, and the mugs were dirty. The corridor was grimy and poorly kept too; on the way to our room we glimpsed another room that looked possibly worse. The receptionist was pleasant and the location was good, but we found a better place for the same price just a three-minute walk away, so this wasn't worth it. We also had to pay before arrival, with the last chance to cancel being the day before. Other places we've stayed let us pay on arrival and were much nicer.

The cigarette smoke from other rooms made it hard to breathe, even with all the windows shut. The rooms were stale and old, with uneven floors, dirty bed sheets, thin walls, and a bathroom that made no sense. I changed rooms, but the others were bad too. At night the karaoke was incredibly loud, and I could hear people in the next room talking. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all. It looked nothing like the pictures, and I doubt the reviews here are genuine. I found the place disgusting. Do not stay here.

The location gets some credit: you can walk to the old quarter, though the hotel is down a dark, narrow alley just off a busy main road. Reception staff were welcoming, but after we reported the problems, neither the hotel nor Agoda did anything. For what we paid, I wouldn't recommend it when there are other options within five minutes. The room was damp and dirty, and didn't match the Google or Agoda photos. The mattress was stained and damp, the mugs weren't clean, and the corridor smelled musty. In the bathroom there was mould, a dusty wall, tape on the vinyl floor, unpainted filler, and no door.
