I felt seriously unsafe after the staff spoke to me as if, being a foreigner, I couldn’t defend my rights in Vietnam. They implied they could deal with the police and force whatever outcome they wanted. The whole experience was by far the most unprofessional and disrespectful accommodation I’ve ever had. I strongly warn travelers, especially women and solo female travelers, to stay away. It was run amateurishly, with no respect for guests or basic hospitality. I’ll never stay there again and don’t recommend it to anyone. I went to the police station to complain after this. The Vietnamese police took no action. I asked for a signed written complaint, waited nearly three hours, and was eventually told they couldn’t provide one. I have video evidence documenting all of this, and am also sharing a photo of the staff member who treated me disrespectfully and caused this situation. The trouble began at check-in. They told me they didn’t accept cards, only cash. I said I’d leave my luggage in the room, then exchange my US dollars for Vietnamese currency and pay. They said they’d hold our passports until payment was complete. I strongly objected, as a guest who had just checked in for two nights. They just said, rudely, “this is our policy.” To avoid things escalating, I handed over USD 100 and demanded our passports back. I made clear I’d take my dollars back and pay in Vietnamese currency after exchanging the money. That settled the passport issue, but the staff stayed disrespectful and dismissive. Then, at around 11:00 PM the next night, staff came to my room demanding payment. I was resting and told them this was completely inappropriate. They already had my USD 100, and I said I’d pay in Vietnamese currency at checkout in the morning. They kept talking aggressively and mockingly, saying they could remove me from the room at that hour if I didn’t pay in Vietnamese currency right then.

The apartment was massive, with a full kitchen set, microwave, decent bathroom, and bedroom. I stayed five nights, and they cleaned the room every two days. The receptionists were nice and fluent in English. I’d recommend this apartment, though the reception building is separate from it. A few things to know: there was a lot of noise from vehicles honking in front of the apartment. They don’t provide soap or shampoo, so bring your own. On the fourth day, cleaners came in around 5pm, which felt uncomfortable, and strangely they took out the sofa 😭. That didn’t make sense.

We booked a suite for two and had a memorable stay. The room was clean, with a big balcony, and it stayed quiet at night even though we faced the street. The staff welcomed us warmly as soon as we arrived.

We moved the fridge to block access to the window because it felt a bit sketchy, but that was an easy fix and didn’t affect our stay. Nexy Living was in a great spot for our family, right in the Old Quarter amid all the hustle and bustle. The apartment had what we needed, the AC worked perfectly, and rooms were cleaned every second day. The coffee shop downstairs does the BEST egg coffee.
