This hotel has a nice location, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the breakfast options in the dining room were fine, though the voucher system seemed unnecessary. The rooftop bar was comfortable, but the layout was confusing, with several entrances and people wandering around trying to work out where they were or how to get back out. The whole place felt oddly combined, perhaps from two or three separate hotels, and the layout is poor. The service charge applied to everything we ordered, although the bar and restaurant staff were very good and extremely helpful. At check-in we were handed a list of rules. No cooking, durians, or smoking seemed standard, but the rules about bed linen were unlike anything I’d encountered elsewhere. It wasn’t clear when booking that standard rooms had no windows. After some fuss we were offered very expensive upgrades, and eventually one of our three rooms was upgraded for free. The receptionist took our phone while Booking.com was open and cancelled the room without our knowledge or approval. I found that highly unprofessional. Getting to our room meant passing several lifts, going into the dining room, and waiting for a lift there while people ate. The stairs from the room also led into the dining room, with curtains on them for some reason. At the bottom was a door with a sign asking people to open it slowly, presumably so it wouldn’t hit staff or guests. Our toilet had a sign saying not to flush paper, but to put it in the bin, which was at least six feet away and had no lid. That left us either throwing dirty paper across the room like an origami basketball player or walking over with our pants around our ankles. The bath worked poorly as both a shower and a bath. The curtain didn’t keep the water in when showering, and it was too short to enjoy as a bath. They’d be better off replacing it with a proper shower. The room itself was nice, but small, as you’d expect in a city hotel. The double bed was pushed against a wall, so I’d disturb my partner if I got up at night. The socket beside the bed didn’t work, which meant the phone charger was across the room and I had to get up in the night to check the time. I’d call this a 3.5-star hotel and wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Mark Yo handled our check-in, took time to point out places nearby, remembered us over the next two days, and checked how we were doing. We even had little chats over breakfast. The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of all kinds of food places, clothing shops, pubs, and other individual shops. Walking Street and Ben Thanh Market are both about 10 minutes away. There’s also a rooftop pool and bar with a nice view of the surrounding area. Our standard room was clean and had the basic amenities, but the lack of bedside power points was frustrating. I had to unplug a table lamp to charge our phones and other devices. The room blocked street noise reasonably well, but sounds from neighboring rooms came through. There was only a standard curtain, with a gap that let sunlight shine in. Still, the two of us had a nice stay.

The rooftop pool and bar are a great place to spend the end of the day with a drink before heading out for dinner. The spa is great too, and Quyen gave me a great massage. It’s a well-priced hotel with all the amenities. The twin rooms are quite small, but functional, and the staff are fantastic and always keen to help with anything you need.

Quan was very helpful, and the central location made getting around easy. We also enjoyed the facilities, especially the complimentary foot massage and the coffee workshop with Anna and Nicholas, where we learned about traditional Vietnamese coffee. The foot massage went so well that we booked a 60-minute couples body massage to unwind at the end of the trip. Unfortunately, the masseuses chatted to each other throughout, which disturbed what was meant to be a relaxing hour. Still, it was good value for money.

I got all my valuables back after leaving some important personal items in a Grab on the way to the hotel. The reception team on May 12, including Gemma, helped me contact the taxi company's customer service, which was especially helpful since I don't speak Vietnamese. They were incredibly kind, and I really appreciated it. I was there for two days with a friend, and the hotel was clean, the buffet was great, and the pool had a spectacular view.
