CK Saigon Central Hotel

After my previous hotel, this place felt great: it had air conditioning, a double bed, and a clean bathroom. It took the shower a few minutes to get hot, but otherwise it was a really pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly. I chatted with one of them about my travel plans, and she told me about her travels in Asia.

A central spot, just a short walk from most attractions. It's on the wards rather than a main street, but the residents seemed fine and we felt perfectly safe after a couple of trips out. If you get back too late, though, you'll need to buzz for staff to let you in. We had a small but cozy, clean three-bed dorm with good facilities, and the WiFi was excellent. The staff were relaxed and friendly, and weren't tied to tour companies, so their advice was useful. Exactly what we needed for a quick backpacking stop. I would stay again.

We were charged for a laundry bag at checkout, though we hadn't been told about it and couldn't tell if it had been in the room when we checked in. I found that annoying and unjustified. We occupied the room for just under six hours and paid in full, but were still denied breakfast. Apparently we needed to inform them by 10am, even though we hadn't arrived until 2pm. Avoid this hotel. The staff seemed untrained and unsure of what they were doing.

I was in a very clean three-bed dorm with an ensuite bathroom. The staff were a huge help with my travels and knew Saigon well. They didn't push tours or tickets, and even sent me to the bus depot to get the best ticket price. Most downtown attractions were within walking distance, too.
