Greenwood Villa Saigon

The staff were really friendly and did their best to make us comfortable. They also went out of their way to keep our luggage safe while we were on a day tour. A couple of things didn’t work for us: the transfer was just an Uber or Grab driver they called for us, which we could have arranged ourselves. Breakfast choices were limited, though the coffee was very good. There was no spare toilet paper in the bathroom, so I had to ask for more. The room had lots of niches and office-style furniture, but no proper wardrobe or place to hang clothes.

A brilliant place with really good service. It’s especially handy for tourists visiting Vietnam for the first time: the staff speak English very well, and the price includes breakfast, a new local phone SIM card, and laundry. Best of all, they can pick you up from the airport for free. The living room and bathroom are spacious, and the first-floor room has a balcony or a very small terrace.

The staff were helpful and very welcoming to pets. The common areas could have been cleaner, and my room was smaller than the picture. I also didn’t get the garden view that had been promised.

Greenwoods is a converted house in District 2, the kind of place we’d call a bed and breakfast in the States. The staff were pleasant when I arrived, and my room was spacious and clean. District 2 is very quiet compared with District 1, so I took Uber to get into District 1. In my experience, Uber worked best in Vietnam because you know the fare before you go. At first I wasn’t sure I’d like this hotel, since it was different from the other one I’d stayed at, but it grew on me. The rooms are big. A couple of small things could be better, like having bedside tables and lamps, and raising the TV stand so you can see the screen from bed. Still, those were minor compared with the hospitality. They also offer free bicycles for a short ride to the river.
