The bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked. That's about it. For what they charge, this place isn't worth it, unless you just need a bed on Bui Vien Street for one night. The shower made a noise and spat out a little water, then stopped. I turned it off before it burned out and had to wash using the toilet hose. When I ran the air conditioning, it seemed like the drainpipe was faulty. Water collected under the floorboards, and by morning they were floating, lol. There were only three batteries between the two remotes, though at least the TV had no channels anyway. The front door lock was really dodgy, and I didn't want to leave anything valuable in the room. It needs a total renovation and a lower price. I also noticed that rooms were rented by the hour as well as by the day, so it doubles as a love hotel. I definitely wouldn't stay again. There's plenty to choose from in the area.
My hotel in Pham Ngu Lao was affordable and well located, and the area has a good mix of energy and comfort. Getting laundry done was easy at Dan’s Wash & Stay at 185/10 Pham Ngu Lao. A load cost 30K, and it was open 24/7 with no staff needed, super convenient for travelers.
The owner was so rude. When we arrived, the place was dirty, smelled of cigarette smoke, and had awful stains on the walls and beds. It wasn't as advertised, and there was no way to lock the door from the inside. We had booked in February, but the company cancelled our booking, so we couldn't leave a review on booking.com. Looking back, we found out there had been a fire a few months earlier. We went to find somewhere else to stay and left our bags in the room, but they charged us an hourly rate for that time. The hourly rate and the fact it's on walking street say it all. Absolutely awful. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Music from the main clubbing area next door came into the room until after 4 am. If you want to get any sleep, do not stay here.
The beds and pillows were cozy and quite comfortable, though hard like most in Southeast Asia. I might have slept well if the noise hadn't gone on until 4:30 am. We liked being right on the party street for location and convenience, and knew it might be a little loud. It was way louder than expected, as if the window or door were open all night. I checked the window several times, but it wasn't open. The rooms are tiny. On arrival, we were told our booked room was full for the first night, so they put us in a larger room with two beds and said we'd move the next day. That was understandable, though annoying since I like to unpack and had to move everything. The girl at the front was very nice about it. Even that larger room had just enough room for us and our luggage, and we used the extra bed to hold our things. I hoped the room after that would be about the same size with one bed and more floor space. Instead, it was a tiny box, and we couldn't open our suitcases. There was nowhere to put things. I had to stack the chairs, table, and basket on top of the fridge cabinet just so we could move around with a suitcase standing up. We left after our second night. We asked about upgrading to the larger room, even though we weren't sure we'd sleep better with the noise, but it wasn't available. We couldn't stay in the small room, so the lady at the front refunded the full week I had paid in cash, and we moved elsewhere. If you're traveling with a small backpack and plan to party or stay out until 4:30 am with everyone else, this could work for you. Otherwise, you've been warned. The listing on booking.com mentions a fitness centre, but there isn't one. I expected that from such a tiny place and got a gym membership for our month here, but wanted to mention it. It also said we'd get free bottled water every day, like at most other places, and we didn't.
