Thien Hoa Hotel

The owner is a lovely, friendly guy with a real service mindset. I also liked the free refill water if you bring your own bottle. It's a good location, within walking distance of Ben Thanh market, and the room was spacious. The fridge came in handy. The bed and furniture were pretty old. I had booked a non-smoking room, but every so often smoke would come in from next door or maybe through the pipes. I'm not sure where it came from.

I've been coming here for five years, ever since I got to know the owners. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and although it's a small hotel, the rooms are nice and clean. Rooms at the back are quieter than those at the front. It's easy to get around, whether you want a Starbucks coffee or to visit nightclubs on Bui Vien or Pasteur.

The towels looked as though they'd been used a hundred times, and one had a blood-like stain. After I complained about being put in a smoking room without being told, they suggested I open the window. Eventually they moved me to the smallest room on the first floor, which was quite noisy. The price was okay, but this was one of my worst experiences staying in the first district. Avoid it at any cost!

I don't want to write a bad review, but I stayed two nights at your hotel with my English boyfriend, and I'm Vietnamese. We live in Binh Duong province. Your attitude toward me wasn't nice because I was staying with a foreigner, I felt. The young receptionist was good and friendly, but an older receptionist was horrible to me. I've travelled around Asia and people have mostly been very nice to me. I don't know why it was so bad in my own country. I'm not saying the hotel was unclean or not VIP. I want the hotel to learn how to respect a Vietnamese girl staying with a foreigner.
