Thien Phu Hotel

The pictures are totally misleading. The building is old and poorly maintained, unlike the edited photos. It faces a local beer restaurant where drinkers make noise, so I’d only recommend it to people looking for a low fare. The receptionist was nice, although she didn’t speak English. There’s also a church across the road, which is convenient for Christians.

Hidden behind a coffee shop, it feels welcoming, almost like being at home away from home. The rooms are kept old on purpose to give guests a sense of Hue’s history and its ancient feel.

The hotel restaurant serves awesome hotpot, and the beer is very cheap. Ask for bottles rather than cans! The hotel itself has simple but nice, clean rooms and very kind, helpful staff. They even sent someone to the train station to buy us tickets, although we’d only asked about departure times and hadn’t requested that. Great value for the price, and I can definitely recommend staying here in Hué.

The room was nice and had a balcony, but the sheets and curtains were really dirty. We also wouldn’t recommend the restaurant. The fried rice was terrible, and they brought peanuts that we assumed were complimentary, then put them on the bill. Even with those issues, the hotel was acceptable.
