Phuong Thao Homestay

I booked no room in advance and was lucky enough to find one. I thought I'd stay two nights, but ended up staying four. The service was wonderful, and the family were friendly and helpful. My room cost 400K including breakfast. It was basic, but spacious and clean, with a great bathroom and hot-water shower. I ate everything on the menu and it was all delicious, though a few more food choices would be nice. I'd also have liked somewhere to hang clothes in the room.

It was a quiet, peaceful setting in the middle of nature, and our bungalow was spacious with a comfortable bed. Still, we found small rats in the room, which can happen in the countryside. The food was only okay compared with the amazing meals we'd had elsewhere in Vietnam. We asked for fish on the first night, but it had run out. The prices felt quite high for the location and the taste wasn't worth it to us. Breakfast was okay too.

The rooms were comfortable and had a very typical feel, the bicycles were free, and we loved the swimming pool and beautiful boat tour. The food was great too. I think this was the warmest welcome I had anywhere in Vietnam, which is already such a welcoming country. A big thank you for that!

The room was large, but the bathroom needs renovation. When we flushed the toilet, water came back into the bathroom through the evacuation hole. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, though staff rode motorbikes in and out all day and early in the morning, and the dogs barked all night. The swimming pool is on another property, 100m away. This felt more like a hotel with very little staff than a homestay. The owner was never there and didn't help with the few questions we had. He came across as very commercial, selling overpriced food and tours.
