The rooms at Kitecamp No mad are spacious and well designed, and we were comfortable enough that we didn’t even need the fan. The hotel is perfect for a quiet retreat: it’s a 2 minute walk to a quiet beach, away from the crowded strip of resorts and hotels that makes Mui Ne feel like any other exploited paradise. There’s a beautiful, clean swimming pool, great staff, and food onsite. I didn’t get to try the food, but Richard and Patricia put so much into making guests happy that I’m sure it’s great. Richard also rents quality motorbikes to guests at good rates. We rented one and did plenty of sightseeing. If you kite surf, Kitecamp No mad is a must. Richard is a pro, and I can’t imagine finding a better kite surfing guide in Mui Ne. My girlfriend and I met Patricia, Richard's wife, on the bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne. She kindly invited us to stay with her and Richard. They’ve lived in Mui Ne for years, know the city inside out, and are friends with all the locals. We got to have Vietnamese coffee with them at an amazing spot overlooking Mui Ne, and it was lovely to see how well liked they are in the community. They showed us the best attractions and told us where to find great food and drinks. Getting there is easy. If you arrive in Mui Ne by bus at night, ask the driver to drop you in front of Dragon Beach, an amazing club. Green taxi cabs line up in front, and will take you to Kitecamp No mad for 100000 VND. During the day, take the local red or blue bus, which circles the Mui Ne area and stops right at the hotel door for under 10000 VND. When you’re ready to leave, you can catch a bus or hail a taxi in front of the hotel. It’s perfect, and we’d confidently recommend Richard, Patricia, and their hotel.

Our room was dirty, and the fan barely made a difference in the heat. A guy said he’d help us get a bike, took us to his friend to rent one, and charged us 200 k a day. We knew that seemed expensive but really wanted to explore, so we went ahead. Turns out the actual price was 120, and the guy from our homestay wanted to make extra cash. Sorry, I won’t be back.

We had paid for the full week when we arrived, but he still demanded more money for an extra night. He had our passports and money, so leaving didn’t really feel like an option and we had to put up with it. He speaks no English, seems unpredictable, and is grumpy most of the time. It soured the whole stay.

For kitesurfing in Vietnam, Mui ne is one of the best places I’ve found. Nomad is away from the tourist roads, with professional service and the best prices and attention. If you want to build your kitesurfing experience somewhere that feels more authentic, go there :)

The pool was nice, but the place felt empty because it was low season and there was nobody else at the hotel. We had loads of ants in the room, and the fan in the room we booked wasn’t working, so we slept with the door open. It might be a good place when it’s busier.
