Hotel Phu Quoc Ngoc Viet

The location is probably the best thing about this stay. I spent four nights here in early January, and although the Air Bnb description was really sparse, being right in the night market turned out to be convenient rather than noisy. It felt like a quiet little oasis amid all the chaos. The rooms felt more like bedrooms in a home than generic hotel rooms, but had everything packed in: a wall-mounted flatscreen, a mini fridge in the closet stocked with drinks and snacks, a breakfast nook with two chairs, lots of hangers and A/C. A phone shop was within walking distance if you couldn't get a SIM at the airport, which is surprisingly difficult, and there was a small mart for snacks and household things. Toiletries were a bit skimpy, just tiny shampoo and body wash bottles, with no toothpaste, conditioner or lotion. Otherwise, I was more than satisfied.

We were there during the hot season, and it seemed to be shut down.

The staff weren't very helpful, though it wasn't a big deal. I stayed with friends for two nights; we booked two double rooms. They were small, but suited our budget and were good rooms.

The room felt fairly fresh and the Wi-Fi was decent, but the bed was rock hard.
