The Palmy Phu Quoc Resort & Spa

We asked Booking to cancel as soon as we saw the room. It was impossible to imagine sleeping there, and calling the place a resort feels extremely misleading. The sheets had visible stains, and the whole room felt neglected and unhygienic, far beyond a few minor flaws. There was a strong unpleasant smell when we opened the door, and it looked as if it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. Dust and dirt showed on several surfaces, the shower glass was stained, and the minibar fridge didn’t look sanitized. The balcony furniture had stains and cigarette burns, with an ashtray full of old butts. I travel a lot, and this was honestly the worst hotel room I’ve ever entered. No guest should have to sleep in conditions like that. Avoid it at all costs.

The breakfast was very poor, the facilities weren’t clean, and customer service was nonexistent. I spent one night there and won’t return. Construction right beside the hotel was extremely loud, almost attached to the part where we stayed, and it blocked the view. The hotel is still offering those rooms.

Having to pack and unpack repeatedly took over the stay. I was moved between rooms several times because of the hotel’s poor planning, and it completely disrupted my comfort and peace of mind. The changes felt rushed and unprofessional, with no proper explanation or apology from staff. Guest comfort didn’t seem to matter, and even basic hospitality standards were missing. One of my worst hotel experiences. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful, hassle-free stay.

We were put in a room above the breakfast area, and I’d avoid those rooms because of the foul smell. There was no intercom. We asked for the room to be cleaned, but they forgot; after we came back and had asked many times, they finally did it. Still, they didn’t change the sheets or pillow covers and didn’t leave tea or coffee sachets. The next day we asked again for a room change and cleaning, but the sheets and pillow covers still weren’t changed. Very bad experience and terrible management.
