New Palace Hotel

We had two rooms. Room 203 was fine the first night, but on the second night the shower had no hot water. The receptionist sent the handyman straight away. He fiddled with something, said he'd check on it and come back, then left us waiting for over an hour. When we called again, he said ours was the only room without hot water and we'd need to move. We were annoyed that he hadn't come back to update us and had just assumed it was fixed. Room 101 was smaller but okay. We were exhausted and dirty after a full day out and just wanted a shower. The next day we complained, and the receptionist gave us a small discount. The rooms, bedding and showers were clean, and the decor was very nice. Breakfast had lots to choose from, but everything we tried was dry and bland. I'd still stay here again. Guests can smoke in the lobby, and the smell may reach first-floor rooms.

An easy four-star hotel. Excellent.

It was okay.
