Flaco Hostel

We stayed two nights and liked the room and its view. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were so kind. I'd recommend it.

Really lovely people, some of the nicest I've met here. It's great value, the linens are very nice, and you can rent scooters. They can also sort out tickets for you.

Construction work starting at 7 am was the one downside during our mid-April stay. Hopefully it was only temporary. Otherwise, it was comfortable, fairly priced, and in a good spot by the lake, with a short walk to the bus stop and night market. The bathroom was clean and a little small, with lots of hot water and good shower pressure. The beds were very comfortable, though the double bed was somewhat narrow. It worked for two medium-sized women, but could be a problem for larger people. Our room had a kettle, table, outlets and shelves beside the bed, plus AC and a heater. The staff were very kind and helpful, and drinking water was available in the lobby.

Sa Pa feels chaotic, and hotels and restaurants seem to take tourist spending for granted. After two other hotels had empty receptions, I wound up here in a room with no real window for 300k. What they call a window is a hole in the wall opening onto the internal staircase, which carries noise around the building. It was loud. The walls were an odd gray and the room smelled moldy. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and there was good hot water and wifi. Even with AC it felt stuffy, which may explain the mold. I wish I'd read the reviews mentioning it. I wouldn't stay again.
