Hoang Ngan 1 Hotel

The one good thing was the late-night arrival. I got there around 4:30 am and only meant to leave my bags in the lobby and wait somewhere, but the receptionist let me go straight to a room. That was the end of anything positive. I booked two nights, stayed one, and cancelled the second. The room was dirty, with mold on the walls and trash in the shower. When I ran the sink, debris came up from the drain. The hotel advertised Wi-Fi, but I couldn't load anything, and it seemed not to work at all. I checked in at 5:00 am, then a cleaner woke me at 10:00 am to apologize and say I had to change rooms. I said that was ridiculous and refused. At noon she returned and said I had to be out in 30 minutes. I felt bad for her and didn't want to cause a scene, so I packed and asked to move. Then I was told the new room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 pm and I'd have to wait. A joke. After we talked, she agreed to store my things. I cancelled the next night right away. The owner was holding my 400,000 VND deposit and said he'd charge 350,000 because I cancelled, even though Booking showed 250,000. He said the higher charge included early check-in. I explained why I didn't think that was fair. It was the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I didn't want to pay anything. In the end, he graciously agreed to 250,000, saying, “I did sleep there after all.” For 250,000 VND, you can find much nicer rooms without mold, cigarette butts in the window, a musty smell, or being kicked out in the morning. I definitely don't recommend this place. Stay away.
