Tropicana Lagoon Resort

The lagoon was advertised as a swimming beach, but it was dirty and full of rubbish, so we didn't swim there. The pool was small as well. Our room's AC leaked water inside, and no one seemed to care. The place was practically empty, yet newly arrived guests were put right next door during our last two nights. We could hear them, and the smell of their dope smoking drifted into our room. Hot water lasted only about a minute in the shower. Restaurant food options weren't available, and staff communicated poorly at check-in. They didn't tell us which breakfast was included in our tariff. This was an overpriced, poorly managed establishment.

We used it as a base for exploring the island, and it suited us well for what we paid. We stayed in May and enjoyed our time. The resort isn't fancy, and like much of the island its facilities aren't the newest, but things were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We went paddle boarding on the lagoon, swam in the pool, and walked to the main street to catch a bus into town. Most of town is still recovering from the earthquake back in December 2024, so some areas are a little rough. I've seen reviews from people expecting the world, but this is a small resort in Vanuatu, and it worked well for us given all that.

I booked six nights, but when I checked in, I saw black mould covering both the pillow and mattress. I cancelled straight away and checked in somewhere else. Don't stay here if you care about your health!

The location was perfect, close to the beach and all the amenities. We had a fantastic two-day stay at Tropicana. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, always greeting us with beautiful smiles. Specially Brenda :) We'd happily stay again and highly recommend it.
