Orator Hotel Samoa

Breakfast was good, and the place is fine if all you need is somewhere to sleep. We won't stay here again or recommend it after our family reunion. We had to ask for housekeeping after day three. The $75 Wednesday night buffet was disappointing compared with the $75 one at Sifa Afi on Tuesday, which felt worth the price. At Orator, we felt ripped off. Communication could've been better too. We had to ask when we could start eating, while a wedding was happening outside. We were told to keep the noise down as we waited in the foyer, even though our large family group had paid to stay there. There weren't any activities either. The parents' bathroom had no hot water for all six days. We told staff several times, but it was never fixed. Rats were in the nieces' and nephews' cabin at the top, so they had to move.

The air conditioning was the one good thing. Otherwise, the rooms are old and let critters in, the showers are either hot or cold, and wifi only works at reception. Everything needs upgrading, and when something needs fixing, service is basically nonexistent. Staff mean well, but we only saw them when they gathered to sing goodbye. The place is lacking in too many ways, and I don't recommend it.

Our villa had a very comfortable bed, and the pool just outside was a highlight. We had a great stay overall, though the hotel is starting to look dated and could use some refreshing. It was truly amazing when it first opened. We'd love to see it updated and restored to its full potential.

It was so quiet, and everyone was lovely, especially Iva and Melita. The receptionists were great too. Even with renovations underway, they kept up the customer service. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back soon.
