I’ve stayed in Cape Town several times a year for over 15 years and have tried almost every property in this impressive portfolio. I keep coming back whenever I can. The only thing that stops me is when they’re fully booked, which says a lot about how popular they are. The pool is a must in summer, and I love starting the day with coffee on the rooftop and its panoramic view. The location and views are breathtaking. Bed comfort can vary between properties, but the team is attentive and happy to share what they know to help you get a good night’s rest. The managers do their best with what the owner is willing to provide, and these are top-quality stays in a premium location. It’s a charming residential neighborhood with permanent residents who are generally very tolerant, and the properties are well insulated from noise. This company gives me a great experience and is my go-to for a Cape Town stay.

The rooftop terrace had an incredible view, and having the whole De Waterkant Apartment to ourselves was perfect. It was great value for money in one of Cape Town's most beautiful areas. We'd happily come back anytime.

The location, pool and views were fantastic, and I loved the atmosphere. The cottage was private, the WiFi worked well, the bathrooms and showers were good, and the kitchen was reasonably equipped for cooking. I did enjoy the stay, but given the daily rate and the cottage's position in one of South Africa's most exclusive up-and-coming areas, I was disappointed. I’m unlikely to return. There were plenty of problems. The website says the cottage is serviced daily, but over our three days no one asked about servicing. I couldn’t find pillows for the outdoor furniture, and the coffee and other supplies were worse than what you’d get in a budget Road Lodge room. They neither came to clean nor left enough dishwashing liquid, soap, bin bags or other cleaning supplies for me to do it myself. The DSTV package was terrible, we couldn’t even watch rugby. The cottage has two bedrooms, and both beds were the hardest I’ve ever slept on, like kitchen counters. I also had bite marks all over my body, which I think may have been caused by bedbugs. De Waterkant Cottages are welcome to contact me about the review and my comments. Update: A round of applause to the hosts, who finally saw my review two years later and replied by arguing every point with excuses. Lols. Cape Town neh.

A real gem, close to everything, with hardly anything missing. The team were friendly and helpful, and even gave us a free tour of the area so we could get our bearings. It cost less than nearby hotels and came without all the admin and hassle. A fantastic home away from home, with a little bit of holiday luxury that won't break the bank. Highly recommend it!

We stayed at 40 Napier St for a week and would probably come back. The location is amazing, and the unit has a dryer. There’s also a pool, which we used as a cold plunge in June. Check-in was a bit of an ordeal. The sofa could use a refresh, though it worked fine for the two of us. With four people, seating could be an issue. They provide only the bare minimum to get you started. We had biweekly cleaning, but when we asked for a replacement mini bar of soap, they wouldn’t replace even one. That seems illogical on a longer stay, especially since guests pay for the extra nights and longer stays mean less work for the host. Why give one bar of soap for a one-night stay or a one-month stay? It’s a small thing, though, and I’d probably stay here again when we’re back in Cape Town.
