Marie welcomed us warmly, and we felt at home in the big family room, the last one available when we stayed on 8 January 2026. But maintenance needs attention. The door knob on the bedroom with the double bed came off in my hand, and a plank on the bathroom door was loose. The bathroom floor was very slippery, and the mat had no grip. It slid when I got out of the shower, and I hurt my leg. The blinds on the room door were held together with cellotape, leaving gaps and making the room feel exposed with little privacy. At R1040 per night, some of the money should go toward fixing or replacing broken things. It would also help to have an extension cord with plug points in the main bedroom for charging a phone and laptop.

Marie had our room's aircon on about 10 minutes before we arrived, which was bliss. She was such a friendly and welcoming hostess.

The pool was a nice surprise, the water was clear and seemed well maintained. We booked two rooms for our family of five, but the host offered us the family room instead so we could all stay together. It sleeps seven. One room had a double bed and its own bathroom with a toilet and shower, plus enough towels. The dining-room room had five single beds, a small square table with four chairs, a microwave, a mid-sized bar fridge and a TV. There wasn't much lighting in that room. Both rooms had air-conditioners. Highly recommend!

Marie even got up early in the rain to see us off, thank you. The host was very friendly, and I would definitely stay here again. The room was beautiful and comfortable, with a big neat bathroom, a fridge, cutlery and crockery, everything for coffee and tea, and a TV. The bed was big and comfy, with plenty of bedding.

Marie was the highlight, so friendly and welcoming. Even with loadshedding, she helped me sort out dinner and made sure I had everything I needed and more. I'm so glad I found Traveller's Joy. It's one of the best places I've stayed along the N1, with cosy rooms, a quiet neighbourhood, and a clean, comfortable bed. Highly recommended, with affordable prices.
