There was no backup water system, and we had no water all night. Imagine needing to use the bathroom, with the room then smelling until morning. The rooms also smelled horrible, so I asked for spray before using mine. They're too small for the prices, and the bed wasn't in good condition either. The place didn't match what I saw in the post pictures when I arrived. The young woman at reception had an attitude for days, and her responses made it seem like she had a stake in the place or that it belonged to her dad. When we asked simple questions, she said there were plenty of guest houses in Durban. She doesn't seem mature enough for this business. One of the worst experiences. I wouldn't say this place is suitable for couples.

Room2 smelled bad, and the drain stank in the morning. There were cockroaches, and the shower curtain was too small. A bearded Black man, who I was told was the owner though I'm not sure, was very rude and didn't even greet us. I wouldn't recommend this place. Maybe it's suited to people looking to spend a few hours together.

Our three-day booking ended after two nights because the guest house was in such poor condition and our concerns weren't handled. The beds were badly worn and sank when we sat or slept on them. The toilet interior was moldy, the shower was filthy, and the floors were severely cracked and damaged, with dirty carpets covering them. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell. When we raised these problems, staff showed no empathy and made no effort to fix anything or offer a satisfactory solution. The online advertising is misleading, with outdated photos from when Carrington Guest House first opened. These conditions and the poor service affected our comfort and experience. I hope management takes this seriously and updates the facilities to match the online representation.

The family unit is old and very outdated, and needs maintenance. It was full of cockroaches and ants, so we didn't enjoy our stay. The man who greeted us on arrival wasn't accommodating or friendly to me and my family. Terrible service.

We found this place at the last minute and got a warm welcome when we arrived. It's clean, quiet, and spacious, and the price is very accommodating. Nothing to complain about. I'm saving the number because this will be my go-to accommodation when I come back to Durban.
