African Sky Hotels - Ermelo Inn

We left deeply disappointed. Cockroaches in Room 208 were unacceptable, and the whole experience meant my wife and I couldn't enjoy breakfast. We declined it at checkout, after raising our concerns with the duty manager. She listened attentively and professionally, but the damage to our stay was already done. We had booked Room 225, a king room with a pool-facing view, but after its toilet flush proved faulty and kept running, we were moved to Room 208. That room was a downgrade, a twin room facing the parking area. No one asked us or explained whether it was the only option, and there was no apology. The staff member who checked us in had been unwelcoming and dismissive from the start. Though she said she'd help when I reported the toilet, she took an unreasonable amount of time to deal with it. Her manner when she eventually confirmed the problem and moved us was rude and unprofessional. The service fell far below basic hospitality. Having travelled locally and internationally, this ranks among our worst hotel experiences. Our stay was severely compromised and entirely ruined.

The beds were fine and the place was okay, neither bad nor great. The bathrooms could use some maintenance, especially for the drain smells and general freshness. There are desks in the rooms but no power outlets nearby for laptop use, which seems like something to consider for business guests.

The food is great, and the staff are very professional. But the Wi-Fi has been nonexistent for a long time, and watching TV is a nightmare since there are only e-channels.

I was really happy with my stay and loved how comfortable and clean the bed was. The towels were the one letdown: I noticed brown smudge marks on them and couldn't tell what they were. Otherwise, I enjoyed it a lot.
