Buff & Fellow Eco Cabins

The first thing we spotted through the cabin windows after check-in was the two rhinos living on the farm. It made for a really memorable stay. We were in eco coconut 6, a beautifully and elegantly designed apartment that felt like home, and communication and check-in were super easy. We only stayed one night and wished we had more time. It’s a special place.

The early morning game drive and our guide tour were both amazing, and our guide was great. We could watch the animals from our cabin in the peace and quiet, which was incredible. Buffalo and rhinos were around when we woke up, and sipping coffee on the balcony felt like pure bliss. The water views, outdoor showers, and hot tub were lovely, and the cabin and pods are set overlooking the water. We had everything we needed and more, and could collect our own free-range eggs from the coop. One of the best experiences we’ve had, and one we won’t forget.

The birds and frogs can be pretty noisy at night, so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. I also found it sad to watch the male ducks bully the females and get aggressive with each other, though they weren’t aggressive toward people. Still, it was amazing to watch the two rhinos from the hot tub while the braai was getting ready at the outdoor fireplace. We’ll come back when we have kids.

It was easy to switch off and take in the quiet and nature, with the cabin set well away from city life. Eco Cabin 2 at Buff and Fellow Game Farm was a trip highlight. Frikkie, the owner and host, was a Superhost, and the clear, detailed Airbnb messages made everything seamless from arrival. The cabin was luxurious and thoughtfully laid out, overlooking the watering hole. Being off-grid and eco-friendly added to the magic, and the attention to detail was excellent.
