Beautiful Abalone

Yvonne and her daughter made us feel very welcome, and I’d like to come back for a longer visit. The place has everything you need to be comfortable, with gadgets throughout the house, rooms, and kitchen. Even the coffee machines, bathrooms, and kitchens are modern.

The welcome was lovely. The host was warm and went out of her way to help, including leaving wine and chocolates. My wife claimed first dibs on both! The owner also made several attempts to sort out the Wi-Fi and did everything she could, but the signal and connection were so poor they were basically unusable, which affected my work. I was told it was a one-off rather than a regular problem, but if you need internet, keep that in mind. We didn’t realize how close the other accommodation was. The family checking in next door was noisy late in the evening, though that wasn’t the owner’s fault. The rooms have blinds rather than curtains, and morning light gets through, so light sleepers may want eye shades. At 2,000 South African rand, it felt expensive compared with Cape Town and the rest of South Africa, although that may be the local rate. Read the room descriptions carefully too: the kitchenette is also a sleeping area, with little space to lounge.

Yvonne was a lovely host, and we enjoyed our stay. The place is close to the cliff path walk, which made the location handy. It got pretty warm at night without air conditioning, but the fan she provided helped a lot. I’d recommend it.

We had such a nice few days at beautiful abalone and would stay again when we’re back in Hermanus. Yvonne and Dirk were great to deal with, and the little extras showed a lot of care. Everything was spotless and good quality. It’s close to town, and being able to park inside was a big plus for us. Thank you♡
