The Monarch Hotel

The team were friendly, quick to respond, and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is on Oxford Road beside the Metro station, with Rosebank Mall nearby and a golf cart service available. It felt like a safe area. The small hotel is well maintained, with spacious rooms, period furniture, rich paintings, and lovely decor. The heritage building used to be a telephone exchange and post office. I was very happy staying here and would consider returning.

The place has such a peaceful feel, even though there’s so much to look at in the architecture and design. I love that old money style, and the lounge, restaurant, dining spaces, hallways, and rooms are all beautiful, never plain or boring. The staff were some of the nicest I’ve met, respectful and checking in often. The food was just as good. I’ll definitely come back, whether for another shoot or a night’s stay.

The high tea was delicious, with generous drinks, sweet treats, and savoury bites, all fresh and beautifully presented. We held a surprise 50th birthday celebration at The Monarch, and the staff helped keep it secret while coordinating everything smoothly. They were warm, accommodating, and careful with every detail, so our guest of honour felt celebrated. A big thank you to the whole team, especially Bheki, for making it so memorable. It was the perfect location for us, and I’d recommend it for a special event.

My son's wedding reception at the Monarch Hotel was a sumptuous experience for everyone. The food Ozzie prepared in house was a culinary delight and one of the day's highlights. From management to the staff and valets, the service was excellent. Thank you again to Bekkie, Sohail, Frank, and the rest of the team. I highly recommend the place.
