Uvongo River Resort

We’re at uVongo river resort now and enjoying every moment here with my partner. The venue is lovely, and I’d gladly come back. The security guys were so friendly, as was our helper Zanele, who had a beautiful smile. The reception staff were friendly too. I loved everything about the resort.

Spotlessly clean, with air conditioning and extremely helpful, friendly staff. It’s near shops, though there aren’t many halaal places to eat. We only found Pedro's and Paparikas. There are no sea views, and the beach is too far to walk to.

The first time we stayed at Uvongo River Resort it was fine, but this second visit went badly. We spent a night and the following day without electricity, and when we phoned to ask what was happening, the response was rude and condescending. With kids along, we had to go out and buy food and power banks. Then there was no water the next day, and some of our family moved to another resort because it had become too much. It really spoiled the family trip. At checkout, money was taken from our deposit for an “Excessively dirty unit,” even though nobody had told us to make the beds or wash dishes. Those seem to be the only things that could have been meant by dirty. That felt like the final blow. The place isn't bad, but right now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The team made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and even did something extra to make our stay special, as the pictures show. There are lots of amenities and things to do at this self-catering place, including putt-putt, a pool, and braai facilities at each unit. Housekeeping was excellent every day. Such a lovely place, and I'd happily recommend it.
