The owners, John and Joy, made the experience special with wonderful service, food, and entertainment. My wife and I made wonderful memories at this astonishingly beautiful Lodge. Without a doubt, one of the best B&B Lodges in South Africa.

The host was attentive, and it was an interesting stay, but I was disappointed that breakfast wasn’t provided even though the internet booking site said it was included.

Water dripped from the roof onto the old wooden floor through the night. The leak seems to be a known issue that’s being ignored, and the curtains, carpet, and floor already show water damage. The house is around 120 years old and has a history: Nelson Mandela and former President de Klerk both stayed here in 1995. Breakfast, typical South African fare, is served in a lovely old parlor, and the host offers suggestions for restaurants and other nearby attractions. There are two cats with the host family and a small pool in the garden behind the house. I spent one night in this beautiful old lodge, decorated with great care and antiques. The owner is an avid hunter and makes no secret of it. His trophies are in the living room by the fireplace, and he wears an NRA shirt. Otherwise, he seems harmless.
