Bird lovers can walk about 900 m to Struben dam, and the garden at 40 on Ilkey is full of lovely plants and birds. It’s also handy for the Visa Center at the Podium, with Menlyn just across the road for shops and restaurants. The hosts were great, my room had what I needed and was comfortable, and breakfast was really good.

The garden is peaceful and a lovely spot for bird lovers, and Struben dam bird sanctuary is an easy walk away. The guesthouse is in a very secure area, with Menlyn mall and VFS Global close by, so the location works well for all sorts of things. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, the rooms cozy, clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.

I spent two nights there and ended up with a terribly sore throat. I can’t say for sure what caused it, but the mold on the ceiling seemed the most likely suspect. The first room had no toilet seat, and when I asked to move, the next one had a broken wooden toilet and awful mold on the roof. I hadn’t planned to post this, but now I’m sick.

Such a lovely place, and the staff were amazing. This morning I got to hear the kids laughing, then COCO showed up, what a beauty. Quick edit, daisy was a delight too. I’ll be coming back.
