We only had takeaway pizza, but it was delicious, full of flavour, and you could tell thought had gone into each ingredient. The owner was welcoming and kind, too. We peeked inside without dining there, and it looked like such a warm, gorgeous spot. Definitely somewhere I’d recommend in a heartbeat.

The hosts were fantastic, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was breathtaking. Every dish we ordered was impressive, and I especially recommend the Nasi Goreng. The food was a definite 10/10. The pudding was still good, but didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal. We also had to move when guests started smoking right next to us, so there may not be a smoking restriction in place. Even with those small gripes, I’d absolutely recommend this place.

Consistency is what makes a great restaurant, and The Yellow House has delivered that every time I’ve visited Prince Albert. I’ve been fortunate enough to eat there four times in recent years. I’ve had the lamb shack twice, and I usually go for the ice cream combinations, especially Turkish Delight. I often have the crème brûlée as well. The welcome and the quality of the meal feel just as warm and good on every visit.

It feels like sitting in your best friend’s living room, only with better food. The place has a personal, authentic touch, the staff are impressively attentive and friendly, and the food and drinks are high quality. A real hidden gem if you’re anywhere nearby. I’m looking forward to coming back soon.

Petro welcomed me back like family on my return, and it honestly felt like coming home after being away. This time I stayed in Mustard cottage, decorated just as tastefully and beautifully as the other cottages I’ve tried. The bed was warm and super comfortable. I also loved having a choice of plunger, Nepresso or instant coffee, which is unusual at a guest house, and the homemade rusks were delicious with it. I left with a bag of oranges, lemons and naartjies picked from the orchard, and I can’t wait to return. On my earlier visits, Petro and Joubert already stood out as perfect hosts. Their attention to detail shows in the rooms, gardens, orchard, plunge pool, dining room, and especially the food. The menu is interesting and unique, the dishes are beautifully presented, and the staff are informed, friendly and well trained. If you need somewhere to stay or eat in Prince Albert, don’t miss The Yellow House. 02 July 2025 update
