Cockroaches keep coming back no matter what I try. They’re everywhere and have even caused me to get my TV fixed, yet there’s no pest control. The Wi-Fi is so slow you may end up buying your own router, if you can connect at all. It only works in certain parts of the room. When I reported it, they said Wi-Fi was a gift from management and told me to get my own router until the problem was fixed, even though it’s included in the lease and the advertising. The power cuts are unbearable, and there’s clearly no solution because they don’t care. All they do is email about outages and post municipal updates on WhatsApp so people won’t call. If you do call, they say it’s beyond their control, even though a generator powers one block and the hotel. It’s on the residents’ side and very loud, but we don’t benefit from it. I have to keep going to an internet cafe to work remotely during outages. I’m currently sick after taking cold showers every day for the past six days. Please don’t stay here. You work hard for your money and deserve a place that gives you good service and value. This one is a nightmare.

I’ve only been here a month and have already had to throw away food three times because of power cuts and no backup. Each outage has lasted at least three days, and now we’ve had five days without electricity, with no solution. Losing food like this is a real financial strain. Three times in one month is ridiculous and unacceptable. I know the power outages may be beyond their control, but the lack of backup power isn’t. The generator supplies the hotel and one block in the estate, but not the rest of us. Don’t we pay rent too? What kind of student accommodation has no backup power? It’s beyond disappointing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY COMING HERE!

I moved here in December and have regretted it. I expected peace of mind for what we pay, but I can’t see my family and me staying through this winter. I don’t recommend the place. What a dream that turned out to be. Older reviews have complained about the electricity for years. Management may not control city power outages, but it can prepare. We signed a lease for a place with electricity, not with city power. Sandton view lifestyle should amend the lease so tenants can leave without a penalty, and management needs a plan to ease the frustration, like a backup generator. It doesn’t have to run all day, batho bamodimo.

Power cuts lasting at least 3 to 5 days happen every fortnight, with no regard for how tenants are affected. Groceries spoil, and management offers no compensation or even acknowledgment. There’s also a cockroach infestation that pest control products don’t seem to affect. Management is run poorly, with no regard for human life.

Five days straight without electricity and no explanation. Budget for an extra R1500 on top of the advertised rent before you even buy electricity. If you work remotely, look elsewhere, because the noise from the kids’ play area is excessive. Please move on and find somewhere better worth your money.
