The cottage had everything I needed and was clean. I loved the beautiful view, funky bedroom light, comfy bed, and cozy indoor fireplace. It felt like a real farm style home. The host was lovely to deal with and very accommodating. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s a farm stay, so expect a few critters. We saw centipedes, crickets, a frog, and a gecko. The Wi-Fi came and went, though that probably suits the farm stay experience. Inside, the setup is uniquely farm style and beautifully decorated, with a distinct personal touch throughout. We stayed to get a head start on the drive from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape. The hostess replied quickly and sent the GPS location. We arrived after dark, so only got to see the beautiful views from our room the next morning.

Sitting at the picnic bench, looking out across the farm, was a peaceful moment before the wedding festivities began. We were in the area for a wedding at nearby Joubertsdal, and Landi was accommodating when we added someone to our booking at the last minute. Check-in and check-out were convenient too. The rustic farmhouse sits in a beautiful valley at the foot of the mountains, a lovely place for a relaxing weekend in nature. Thick wooden beams, an attic for the bedrooms, and clay walls as you enter the old house all add to its cozy charm.

We slept very peacefully and would definitely return. Die Hoenderhok has beautiful views, and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owner came by to say hi, which was nice. The flies were a downside, though that’s part of a farm stay. The bathroom tap is so close to the sink that it’s hard to fit your hands under it. We could have done without the TV, since the views are so amazing, and Wi-Fi would have been nice instead.
