Breakfast was disappointing. There was no menu, so the chef had to tell us what was available: one slice of bacon, half a cheese griller, tomatoes, two fried eggs, and brown toast. The coffee was warm water served in a teapot, and we had to add our own instant granules, though at least they were a good brand. I asked for a Coke Zero, but they didn’t have one or any alternatives. The waiter was friendly and went to the local shop to get a Coke Zero for me. When I arrived, nobody greeted me and there was no music. I found the table where I was meeting my friend, but it was bare and sticky. It still felt like a ghost town, with no music or atmosphere.

Love the place. It works for any occasion.

The owner really tried to make our stay pleasant, and our room was partway through an upgrade. It still needed a few basics: towel rails, a proper bathmat, a replacement fitted sheet, a mattress cover, and a top sheet. At breakfast, filter coffee and warm milk would make a big difference.

After a six-hour drive, arriving late to find no toilet paper was frustrating. The room was in a state, with dated décor, cupboard doors hanging off, sticky counters, black mould, and a cigarette-burned sheet. Customer service was practically nonexistent, with an “I’ll get to it when I get to it” attitude. The water being shut off every night at nine o’clock was unbelievable. One morning I heard the owner’s wife shouting at and threatening her new staff in the lobby, which seemed incredibly unprofessional. The owner was nice to meet, but I’d paid for a month and had to leave after five days. I only got half my money back. I suppose they need every cent to cover the day-to-day costs. I’ve stayed at a few guest houses and B&Bs, and I would never recommend this one. Appalling, and I don’t know who gives it five stars, because it isn’t five-star at all.

The bar staff were hospitable and knew how to deal with customers, but the two women in the kitchen were rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. They don’t seem suited to hospitality and need customer care training. The food was bad, like funeral food. The aircons and TV weren’t working, and there were lots of mosquitoes. I wouldn’t dare visit again.
