After travelling over 400km alone in the rain, over mountain passes with reckless truck drivers, I reached Upington at 22:30 without a place to stay. Thanks to grace from God, the owner was still awake and accepted my online booking. Thank you, Mr Botes, for your kindness and excellent service to a weary traveller.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, very neat, and had a good vibe.

The owner was wonderfully friendly when we arrived very early, and the staff were accommodating too. Even while dealing with a few other unsavoury guests, he stayed calm and pleasant. I work in hospitality myself, so I notice details, and Blue Rain impressed me from the start with its character, lovely facade, gardens, and atmosphere. Shaded, secure parking was a plus. Behind the beautiful old French doors was a suite with a great kitchenette and dining facilities, and a breathtaking bedroom full of old world charm. Upington is extremely hot, and in my opinion not the most pleasant climate or a vacation destination of choice, but I'd happily return to Blue Rain during the festive season. A memorable experience, thank you!

The guesthouse is in a quiet neighbourhood, and the mall is within walking distance. The walk is very uncomfortable, though, because almost every property has dogs. The host will accommodate some changes, but has a subtle, unpalatable attitude. I'd rate the accommodation 6/10 and the host 4/10.

We arrived after 19:00 and the host was extremely friendly. He kept watch at the gate and doors while waiting for us, so we felt warmly welcomed. The place was beautifully decorated, very clean, and comfortable.
