We often had sightings to ourselves, with no more than two vehicles attending, which made the drives feel personal and peaceful. Back at the lodge, all you hear is wildlife, and it’s easy to switch off completely. Tim found so many of the Big Five in just three days of drives. He was knowledgeable and patient, and kept seeking out quiet roads for us, even after the flooding in the weeks before. We were impressed by how committed he was to making sure we enjoyed ourselves. It was our first visit to South Africa, arranged through Scott Dunn. The accommodation was excellent, the service very good, and every staff member was friendly and went out of their way for us. We’ll always remember the trip, and are grateful to everyone who made it special. I’ve uploaded a few photos to show what it was like.

The Waterberg Mountains are beautiful, and there’s a chance to see the Big Five and more here. Almost everyone in our group got to see the Big Five, and the guides and service were top notch. I’ve visited Marataba several times and each stay has been better than the last. This time I brought 35 family members and friends from Texas, and everyone was impressed. Don’t miss this place!

Our tour guide was the best. Watching him track that pack of lions 🦁 was unbelievable. I couldn’t find anything to fault, and the place showed African hospitality at its best. 👌

Our toddler loved the stay, and we had a wonderful time together. The Lodge is very accommodating of children, and kids can join game drives as long as their parents can manage them. We’ll remember our time there for a lifetime. What a gem.
