The staff were warm, always smiling, and willing to go out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I was lucky to be invited along for a family midweek stay at Wilderness Dunes, and the resort is among the best I've visited. Our spotless unit had three bedrooms plus a loft with two beds, plenty of room, and comfortable beds. The lounge had lots of space and comfortable seating too. The kitchen was well stocked, from pots and pans to crockery, red and white wine glasses, and the best cutlery I've found at a resort. The knives were actually sharp, which is rare! A well-run resort, and those stars are deserved. Thank you 👏

Set among the trees, with braai facilities and gas stovetops. There are inverters for power cuts, and the beds are really comfortable. It's a timeshare with full service except on Sundays and public holidays. Be aware there are lots of stairs, so it won't suit anyone with walking difficulties.

The pool had broken tiles, and my niece fell on one outside our room while running. The room was also missing a fridge, and when we asked, we were told we had to request one. My cold food went bad because of that. The air conditioner wasn't working in the heat, and I had a severe allergic reaction that needed medical attention. My nose and chest were completely blocked. There were definitely cockroaches, with bugs crawling on the beds. We paid in January based on what we saw online, but the place we got was not what was advertised. We asked to be moved, as we stayed an extra day because I was sick. The place felt unhygienic and was a terrible experience. The 220 breakfast isn't worth it either, and the coffee was terrible ☕️. I'm not happy 😒. Taking people's money without meeting expectations is terrible service. Very disappointed 😞

The estate and its views are beautiful, but the accommodation was a letdown. We were staying in a chalet our friends had booked through Airbnb. The service staff, including security, reception, and cleaners, were friendly and helpful, and there were communal options like a pool and tennis court. The amenities were clean too. In the kitchen, both of the only two knives were blunt, and the scratched cutting board was glass. There was no salt or pepper. I understand humidity can make it hard to leave some things there, but stocking the kitchen just before check-in takes little time, especially at this price. Our guests were visiting from overseas and wouldn't carry basics like that. No coffee plunger or French press either, which is a basic kitchen item, not a luxury. The blinds in the kitchen fell down and were never fixed, and paint was peeling inside the drawers. Management also wanted deposits for basic things. It was very hot in the rooms in February, the hottest month in the Western Cape, and our pregnant friend needed a fan. We expected one in each room. The small fan heaters provided, the kind sold at Checkers, only made the heat worse. There weren't any multi plugs either. A two-prong adapter by each side of the bed should be standard for overnight charging. We ended up using the one behind the TV. When travelling within your own province, this isn't something you'd normally bring. The Airbnb listing should have spelled these things out. Having to put down deposits for basics made us feel unwelcome, and the repeated interactions with management felt unnecessary. Those basics should be included in the price. The drawbacks outweighed the good parts, so we won't be back.

There are plenty of restaurants close by, along with a petrol station and supermarket. You can walk to the beach if you're up for the stairs; otherwise, another nearby beach is an easy drive. The cleaner is friendly and efficient, coming every day except Sunday. Laundry is available to do yourself or pay someone else to handle. The rooms are a good size, and there's a braai on the balcony plus dining tables indoors and out. Lovely views, and a nice spot for families, friends, or three couples.
