Milenarios Hostel

The beds are decent, the price is good for El Chalten, and the hostel is spotless. The kitchen is good too. More plugs in the dorms and a lamp for each bed would help. The owner is nice and very chatty, though he was a bit strict about some things. He wouldn’t open the kitchen for our very early breakfast before trekking to Fitz Roy at night. At times he watched closely while we washed dishes, and he wouldn’t let people cook after checking out. It’s a good hostel, and the cleanliness is excellent, but a more relaxed owner would make it better.

For around $10 a night, my stay was very reasonably priced, and I’d stay here again if I passed through. The owners were friendly and ready to help. My room was roomy and clean, with good quality linen, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom in decent shape. The kitchen was well equipped, with 8 burners. Beds are made and towels provided daily, which you don’t get at most hostels. The only thing I’d complain about is the usual awkwardly placed power sockets, but it wasn’t a big deal.

The beds were the most comfortable we’ve had, and after hiking all day it was wonderful to come back to a clean room and a cosy bed. They make the beds and clean every day. The owners are lovely, the kitchen is spotless and has what you need, and the place feels like home. We stayed 5 nights and loved it. Good price, and close to everything.

We were seven women in an 8 bed room. It’s a basic hostel with what you need: beds, a mediocre shower and bathroom, a kitchen, and ac/heat. Roberto was helpful and flexible with our needs, and the hospitality was great. He gave us plenty of tips and recommendations. He only speaks Spanish, but that wasn’t a problem for us. Each day he makes the beds and cleans the bathroom area, and if you leave clothes on the bed, he folds them. If you’re backpacking, don’t buy stove gas in town. Roberto has hundreds left by people who didn’t use it all!
