Hotel Edenlehen

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had at a ski resort. Almost all the staff, 99%, didn’t speak English. I’m Italian and don’t expect staff to speak Italian just because Austria borders Italy, but I do expect at least some English. We managed to communicate with our assigned waiter, who was very efficient, friendly, and professional. Our first room reeked of cigarettes. We had to spend the first night there, and by morning I had a headache and felt as if I’d smoked 40 cigarettes. They moved us to another room that morning. I was relieved, but we were late getting to the slopes because we had to repack everything. The hotel was fully booked, they told us, and we hadn’t been ready to change rooms. In the new room, we couldn’t open the balcony door freely because guests are allowed to smoke on the grounds and on their balconies, and the smoke would drift inside. The first room wasn’t cleaned properly. I complained, and I think they made sure the second room was up to standard, but I noticed other bad housekeeping practices during the stay. For example, a cleaner on the third floor put clean bathrobes in the trolley for dirty towels, and vice versa. Empty hand sanitizer wasn’t replaced on the top floor or outside the breakfast and dining room. With buffets at both meals, guests handled shared serving cutlery without a chance to sanitize their hands before eating. It was replenished after we asked for two days. Because of these issues, we stopped housekeeping for the rest of the stay and asked only for fresh towels, not bathrobes. The food wasn’t good either, and didn’t compare with the Italian ski resorts we’d stayed at. Dessert descriptions didn’t match what was actually served. There was no kettle in the room, and the cheap, boxed-in bed was extremely uncomfortable and awkward to get in and out of. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel delivered what it promised, and I’d happily come back if I get the chance. Our room was clean, well equipped, and had a nice view. The kitchen deserves a recommendation too. Everyone on the service team was clearly doing a great job; the person looking after our table was especially diligent, but it wouldn’t be fair to single him out from the rest.

A lovely spot, with a great location and friendly staff. Everything was clean, and the food was delicious. This place felt like paradise. Thanks!

We just ate at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The food was good and presented really nicely, which fits its strong reputation. Service was much less consistent. We waited ages both to order and to get drinks. The waiter took the drinks order for two of us, then left while the others were deciding and only came back much later. I’d been at the table for 50 minutes before I got a drink.
