Posthotel Mayrhofen

For a night after a long day hiking, it was just fine and good value for the price. The bed was big, and the balcony had a mountain view, though the bathroom was very cramped. The hotel is right in the town centre, within walking distance of restaurants and the train and bus station. Breakfast was good and service friendly.

We loved our stay. Breakfast was great, the staff were friendly, and our dog was very welcome. Thanks so much!

The location was excellent, but that was about the only positive. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, with staff who seemed completely unwilling to accommodate guests. We wouldn't return, and wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want good service or a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was very basic and exactly the same every morning. The area with the breakfast tables was closed for the rest of the day, and the playroom shut at 8 p.m. Our group included children and teenagers who wanted somewhere to hang out, but they couldn't find a place to do that. It didn't feel kid-friendly at all. The evening bar was tiny and cramped, with only three tables for the whole hotel. There was one kind of wine and some beers, but no food, snacks, or desserts. We weren't even allowed to bring our own food in. With no good food options, poor service, and all these restrictions, we felt trapped and frustrated throughout the stay.

We came with family for a vacation in August. The location is superb, and after our first night we were moved to an apartment in another part of the hotel that was actually quite lovely. But the management's attitude was aggressive and rude, with little hospitality or service. Our original street-facing room had a strong moldy smell, and cars passing by made the drapes move in the wind. Soon after going to bed, the children were itching so badly that none of us could sleep through the night. We mentioned the smell on arrival and asked about changing rooms, but were told the hotel was full. After that sleepless night, we asked staff for a solution because we couldn't stay somewhere we couldn't sleep. The manager quickly became aggressive. We were willing to leave for another hotel, even after being told we'd be charged for all four booked nights if they couldn't refill the room. We said we had no real choice but to go, since we couldn't physically sleep there. Only then were we offered the apartment, at almost double the rate. We took it because we were exhausted and with family. No one showed even a little compassion about our lost night's sleep, not even a simple apology. The response felt driven by money and aggression. Given the management's attitude and lack of service, we can't recommend this place.
