Sonja Alpine Resort

We paid €2,400 for 4 nights and got an unhygienic, exhausting stay for the price. Our balcony was right above the train tracks, with loud trains starting at 7:00 AM and continuing as late as midnight. The neighbors’ dog barked day and night through the thin walls, and there were pet-like stains in the shared areas. Our room was dirty too, with thick dust, an inadequately cleaned bathroom, and marks on the pillows and bedding. We couldn’t get proper rest. For this premium price, it felt like a complete rip-off. The little spa was just right for relaxing, and getting to the ski resorts from here was very easy. We also loved the view and found the rooms very comfortable. Breakfast was a real highlight, especially the range of cheeses and the egg bar. A wonderful hotel.

Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with lots to choose from. Just a couple of minutes before the kitchen closed, my spouse asked for soup and the staff kindly offered to make it, with a smile. We were welcomed warmly, and our room was clean. There’s a swimming pool and sauna, plus 2 charging stations for an extra fee. I thought the charging fee could be a little lower, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.

From the terrace and rooms, you can watch lots of paragliders fly over the hotel, which sits opposite the landing field. The setting in Piesendorf Kaprun is peaceful, with a stunning view towards Kitzsteinhorn and highest peak of Austrian Alps. We enjoyed the relaxed feel, friendly staff, restaurant and Breakfest Buffet. Nice rooms and spa, too.
