Gasthof Hartlwirt

We stayed from 15-17 May 2026, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The first room didn’t match what had been advertised, so we had to change rooms. On the second night, a party at the hotel went on into the early hours, making it nearly impossible to sleep well. Our replacement room was directly above the entrance, with ongoing late-night noise from guests coming and going, talking, and smoking. There was no usable hot water in that room either. We raised the problems with the hotel, and management acknowledged them and said we would receive a full refund for the inconvenience. That refund never came. This was the most expensive hotel of our Austrian holiday, yet it offered the poorest value. The other hotels we stayed in during the trip cost less and gave us a significantly better experience. I wouldn’t stay here again and can’t recommend it.

The Austrian food here is very good, and they looked after our group well. They seem just as capable with individual diners. Seban, our waiter, was friendly and very accommodating.

We found Hartlwirt Gasthof Hotel peaceful, clean, and tidy, with plenty of free parking. It’s not far from central Salzburg. The rooms are simple and don’t have modern gadgets, but we didn’t miss them. The mountain air and lovely surroundings made for a very relaxing stay. The rooms were spotless, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful, making sure we were comfortable. The overall welcome was warm, and for the quality and service, the price felt justified. A great choice if you want somewhere quiet and charming near Salzburg.
